Dear Future Figure Competitor,

Let me guess which one of the following two categories you fit into.

One, you consider yourself a fitness enthusiast. You work out at your local gym and people have noticed your phenomenal physique. You train hard, you diet hard and you know your way around the supplements aisle at your local health store.

Your friends or family have commented that you look great and should consider competing in a figure competition. You feel capable enough of competing, you have a solid foundation of muscle and are fairly confident when on a stage, but there’s that one thing that is holding you back...

You aren’t sure how to construct a figure competition diet, how to train for a figure competition or what supplements to take to shed bodyfat and get that paper thin skin look. You tried looking through magazines but only end up with a bunch of fluff. You tried asking friends at the gym, but all they have to say is do cardio until you drop and you’ll be fine.

Deep down inside, you dream about becoming a figure competitor and holding that first place trophy high above your head.  Victory would taste so sweet!

But instead you feel frustrated and already defeated. You don’t have a clue how to prepare for a figure competition, so you just keep training hard at the gym, sticking to your clean diet and enjoy the few compliments you get here and there from onlookers. And life goes on.

Or you fall into the second category.

You already know how to train for a figure competition, how to diet to lose bodyfat and are fairly confident about your stage presence. You may have competed in a handful of local competitions, but never placed very well. You would like to think it was a great experience, even if you didn’t place, you still came away with the sense of accomplishment by just entering a competition.

But c’mon… who are you fooling? You didn’t enter a competition just for the experience… gimme a break! You wanted to win! And you wanted to win BIG!

Then you beat yourself up afterwards because you feel you didn’t train hard enough, or diet hard enough or didn’t use the right supplements or your tan was wrong.

Now you go back to your gym routine and try it all over again. Train harder, diet harder, more supplements. And you still don’t place very well in your next competition.

How do the pros make it look so easy?

I know. Because I was once there too.

Running around like a hamster in a wheel before a figure competition, trying to juggle my diet, workout routine and supplement plan   only to find out EVERYTHING I WAS DOING WAS WRONG!

I was feeling frustrated because the bodyfat wasn’t coming off quickly, I was starving all the time, and I had a splotchy tan! All of these mistakes were clearly shown to the world when I stepped up onto the stage. I might as well have screamed I DON’T KNOW HOW TO PREPARE FOR A FIGURE COMPETITION! But first, let's take a look at some common figure competition misconceptions I'm sure you've heard of:

Figure Competition Diet Lie #1:

"The best way to drop bodyfat fast is to do tons of cardio…"

The Truth

Excessive cardio DOESN’T WORK.

When you perform cardiovascular exercise, most of your energy comes from your glycogen (stored energy in your liver and muscles). After about 20 minutes your glycogen is used up and your body must look to other sources for energy. Well it likes muscle because it has lots of amino acids! It also likes a little bit of bodyfat. Unfortunately it favors the muscle mass over bodyfat… and guess what that means? You are losing muscle!! And with losing muscles comes lowered metabolism so it’s even harder to lose weight. And you look scrawny on stage. Overdoing the cardio will not help you lose bodyfat quickly.

Figure Competition Diet Lie #2:

"The best way to get that ripped look is with a low-carb diet…"

The Truth

Low Carb Diets DON'T WORK.

You won't get ripped using a Low Carb Dieting Plan either. In fact, eating low carbs consistently is the worst thing that you can do for figure prep, since that will only slow down your body's fat burning engine and ruin all chances of getting ripped. You MUST include carbs in your diet, especially during your peak week. Carb manipulation is essential if you want to look stage-ready for your figure competition.

Figure Competition Diet Lie #3:

"To get a nice, golden tan you should get a spray tan from a salon…"

The Truth

Spray Tans DON'T WORK.

Many women have gone to the spray tan booth days before the show to get their stage color. And many of them end up disappointed because it’s not dark enough. If you think you are dark enough at home, you’ll be washed out on stage. Spray tan booths work well for a golden summer bronze, or if you need a quick tan for a social function, but they just don’t work for figure competition tanning. But there are products out there that are used solely for the figure competition and bodybuilding world, and will give you the nice, dark tan you need on stage.

Figure Competition Diet Lie #4:

"If I start my diet too late I can make up for it with increased cardio and reduced calories…"

The Truth

This is probably the biggest pitfall of the figure competition world. So many women think they can “make up” for something by doing something else. What ends up happening is the whole thing blows up in their face, their muscles get flat and they appear too scrawny on stage. When getting ready for a figure show, you cannot slack on your contest prep, you must follow every instruction precisely in order to come in at peak condition. Excessive cardio and reduced calories is not the way to win a figure competition.

 

So Then What’s the Answer??

Listen… I know you are frustrated. I was once in your shoes! I used to be a fitness enthusiast who wanted to compete in a figure competition. I would look at those figure cover girls at the checkout line magazine rack and think I could never look like them, it just wasn't in the cards for me. And I went back to my dreary exercise routine and bland diet.

Just like you, I wanted to look great on stage.
Just like you, I wanted a sculpted physique that would WOW the judges.
Just like you, I wanted to win in my class, and honestly, win the overall show.

"Then I Decided to Get Educated…"

It was time to change the hands of destiny. I wanted to excel in my figure career. I wanted to achieve the best physique I was capable of. I wanted to be confident on stage, and I wanted to win a medal. Action was needed. Drastic measures had to be taken. It was time for things to change.

I realized my mistake was absorbing just bits and pieces of information from various sources. The internet, books, magazines, personal trainers and fitness coaches, dieticians, friends, family members, and whatever else I could get my hands on. My head was spinning from all this conflicting advice, I just didn’t know what to do!

So I started looking for a program that was directed specifically to figure competitors. I did not want to get big like a bodybuilder, gain extra muscle mass or learn a complicated fitness routine.

I wanted to be sculpted, lean and poised on stage.

There are hundreds of figure gurus that spew out information on contest prep, not only from the internet, but from books, magazines and videos also.

Then there are the hundreds, if not thousands, of figure coaches out there that will train you specifically for a competition. Have you checked out how much these coaches charge?? If you’re like me, you are already spending big money on a competition suit, high heels, hair color and trim, manicured nails, tanning supplies, gym membership and the list goes on. And these coaches are charging more than all of that COMBINED. Well, I like being a figure competitor but I’m not about to take out a second mortgage on my house just to pay for a personal trainer.

Especially when all the information they give you is the same. Every trainer will give you the same guidelines to follow, the same diet, the same workout regimen. Because they know IT WORKS!!

All trainers will have you doing carb depletion. All trainers will have you doing water restriction. All trainers will have you doing light weight or heavy weights, depending on how many days out you are from your show.

So why are personal trainers so expensive??

Isn’t there an alternative for this so-called “basic information?”

I'm here to tell you it's time to stop reading the magazines… Stop browsing the internet late at night looking for little tidbits here and there…
